About us

Welcome to our website!

We are a couple of guys who run a record shop.

We sell a wide range of dance and electronic music on 12 inch and 7inch vinyl - our records are second hand.

The site started as a programming project which then turned into a shop.

We are based in LONDON, UK.

Our records

Most of our records are used/second hand.

Some records have a plain black/white cover if the original cover was damaged/torn.

We try and list the record condition on the record info page, please check for clarification or contact us.

We physically check all our records and photograph the sleeves that appear on the site so you can see their condition.

Some sleeves have price stickers on them or other labels which would damage the sleeve if we try and remove them so they have been left on.

Some records have a DJ reaction sheet inside too if you are lucky!

SOUND CLIPS

We are building the sound clips library but this takes a long time so not all records have sound clips.

If you dont see a play button on the left of the record you are viewing, click the youtube logo to see if youtube has the track so you can hear it.

Finding records

There are several ways to find records on trixys vinyl:


Click a genre on the left hand side of the page to browse that genre. You can filter the list if there are enough records shown on it.

1. Enter search terms at the top of any page and get results matching artist, title, record label or track name. (We also search all the tracks on each record too!)

2. Click artists on the menu bar to list all artists who have records in the database

3. Click labels on the menu bar to list all records labels we have records for in the database

4. New in lists all records added to the site in the last 6 months - subscribe to get this list in your inbox each month.

5. Trixys classics lists all records we think made an impact in dance music in their lifetime.

6. The Sale items menu lists all records under five pounds. Grab a bargain!

7. The Vault lists rare and expensive records. Get them before they are gone.

Shopping cart

The number of records in your cart is shown on all our pages at the top right of the screen.

You can add records to your cart by clicking on the blue add to cart button on the product info page.

If the add to cart button is not shown, its because the record is out of stock or not available (or on someone elses order or in someone elses cart)

If you have signed up to our site, you can add the record to your wishlist (which you can view on your user account page) and we will email you when its in stock again!

Cart expiry

Records are kept in your cart for approx. 2 hours and then will go back into stock again. This is to ensure records are made available to others customers if you have not completed checkout and paid.

Hurry and check out as soon as possible to avoid missing out!

The cart works this way because unlike other large online stores, we only have one of each record available so its fairer to all to customers to return the record to stock rather than holding it in a cart for too long.

Minimum order

We have a minimum order amount of £10.

Maximum parcel size

For packing purposes, we have a maximum limit of 5 records per order - if you need to order more than 5 records, please split yout order.

You can get a discount code to reduce your order total by sending us a record review, signing up, or we often send codes out at xmas and black friday! Sign up to our newsletter to take advantage of this.

You will get an email from us when you have paid for your records. You will also get a paypal confirmation email.

Wishlist

As a member, you can add records to a wishlist.

Records that are not in stock or that you want to remember for future can be added and you can view them in your my account menu.

Each month, we will email you with a list of any records on your wishlist that are in stock.

A record is to the wishlist by its catalogue number and not its product code so the record you buy may not have the exact cover shown but will be correct catalogueed record. This is because we have several copies of the same record but they may have different sleeves.

Checkout as guest

You can checkout without signing up to make things quicker, although many member functions such as the dashboard wont be available to guests.

You will get emails confirming you order, after an order is accepted, and when the order is shipped.

Please note you will not be able to view your orders on our website if you have checked out as a guest even if you have used the same email address you registered with.

If you wish to view and print your order from your dashboard, please signup and login before placing an order.

You can create an account using your preferred email by clicking the Login/register link on the top menu bar.

Checkout as a member

Log in with your account details before checking out to speed the checkout process up, we will fetch your account details and display them on the checkout page.

If you have any records in your cart and you are not logged in, we will transfer these records to your cart when you log in so you wont lose them. If you wish to signup and create an account, you will have access to a dashboard in your account.

From the dashboard, you can view and print your orders, change billing/delivery address, see the status of your order: received, processing, payment received, despatched and create wishlists. If you wish to view and print your order from your dashboard, please login before placing an order.

You can create an account using your preferred email by clicking the Login/register link on the top menu bar.

Payment

We use paypal as our payment gateway.

Your payment is secure with paypal.

When you are ready to checkout, click the My cart link at the top right of the site.

You will then be taken to the shopping cart where you can view your order and make any changes.

You will also get suggested records you may like based on your current cart contents here.

Click the Secure Checkout button to start the checkout process.

You dont need to be a member to checkout - you can use the guest checkout (which is default if you are not logged in)

We ask for your email address to send you your order. We wont spam you or give your email out to third parties.

You will then be asked for your billing and delivery addresses (address step). Please be accurate here so we make sure you get your records.

If you incorrectly enter your address details or email address, contact us asap (using the contact link at the top of the page) and we can amend these details for you. If for some reason we cant read your address, we may use your paypal address for delivery (we will contact you first before despatch)

You can add an order note if required i.e. "first floor flat" or "please send on 23 january". This will be read by us to help process your order.

Coupon/discount code

If you have a coupon code, enter it in the box and we will calculate the discount (before adding shipping costs).

The next page (confirm step) shows your order total and estimated delivery date. Click the yellow paypal button to go to the paypal page to pay.

When you have paid, you will get an order number, and a confirmation email from ourselves and paypal.

Paying for records continued...

You may sign up at the end of the transaction if you wish or click login/register on the menu bar to sign up there. It's free and has benfits:

- Get special discount codes

- Create wishlists

- Write record reviews for other customer to see (the best reviews get featured status and may be used as the record description text!)

- Your own user area: view orders, reviews, wishlists, change delivery address and other useful options. We aim to despatch your records on the next working day. We will email you when we despatch.

Click the Where is my order? link at the bottom of any page to see the status of your order.

Please note delivery charges are calculated as a separate process (see delivery details section)

Shipping

Records are large and heavy!

Shipping costs are calculated by size and weight and destination of the package.

We weigh all our records so we can quote you shipping costs before you checkout.

We also use strong records mailers to ensure records are not damaged in the post.

Shipping times may vary so please keep an eye on your tracking number online.

The next available shipping date is shown on the record info page.

Parcels weighing over 2kg will need to be split. Please ensure each order weighs less than 2kg - the checkout page will tell you if this is the case.

Payment

After you have paid for your records, you will get an email confirmation from paypal and ourselves.

We will then pack your records and send you an email regarding the status (if you are a member, you will get a reminder when you log in).

The next despatch date is shown during the checkout process. We will ship on the same day if we receive payment before 1pm (GMT)

Delivery details

The next available shipping date is displayed on the record info page and on the checkout page.

We send your records in hardbacked cardboard record mailers via Royal Mail signed for post.

If you would like us to post your records with the insured and tracked mail option please let us know; this can be expensive, please contact us quoting your order number and we can quote and arrange this.

Note: Orders weighing over 2kg will need to be sent using the Parcelforce service - you will need to contact us to arrange this. Its easier to split your order to complete checkout in this situation.

Returns

We want you to be happy with your purchase, but if somethings wrong, we'd like to fix it. We accept returns as long as the record is in the condition your received it.

Please contact us for help on returning a record.

We are working on a returns module for our site.

Record condition

Our vinyl is graded with the GOLDMINE grading system.

All items listed are UK release, standard black vinyl unless stated.

Covers and packaging are graded first, then the disc(s)... for example:

Conditions and Grading

Standard UK Record Collector magazine system, fine-tuned with + and -. Note therefore our VG+ may be slightly worse than a normal US VG+. Cover graded first, vinyl/cd second.

Record Collector's Grading System

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
